Residents of Swat and several nearby districts were jolted by strong earthquake tremors, triggering panic as people rushed out of their homes for safety.
Earthquake Magnitude and Depth
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale. Officials confirmed that the depth of the quake was 8 kilometers, making the tremors more noticeable across a wide region.
The epicenter was located near the Pak-Afghan border, an area known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic movements.

Panic Among Residents
As soon as the tremors were felt, residents in Swat came out of their houses and buildings, fearing possible aftershocks. Many people reported feeling strong vibrations, while some experienced temporary power disruptions.
Fortunately, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage have been received so far.
Tremors Felt in Multiple Districts
In addition to Swat, strong earthquake tremors were also felt in Lower Dir, Chitral, Bajaur, Malakand, and surrounding areas. Residents across these regions reported sudden shaking that lasted for several seconds.
Authorities on Alert
Local authorities advised citizens to remain calm and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks. Emergency teams remain alert to respond if required.
Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern regions, lies on active seismic zones, making earthquakes a recurring natural phenomenon.
