Rain and Snowfall Alert Issued for Punjab as PDMA Warns of Severe Weather

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab (PDMA) has issued a weather alert forecasting rain, snowfall, and possible hailstorms in various parts of Punjab from February 8 to 10.

Authorities have warned citizens to take precautionary measures as changing weather conditions could disrupt daily life and travel.

🌧 Areas Likely to Be Affected

According to PDMA:

  • Upper Punjab may experience rainfall and snowfall

  • Most districts across the province are likely to receive rain

  • Faisalabad Division may see dense cloud cover and rain on February 9 and 10

  • Southern Punjab is expected to receive rain along with chances of hailstorms

🚨 Government Departments on High Alert

PDMA has directed multiple departments to stay prepared, including:

  • Local Government authorities

  • Health Department

  • Rescue 1122

  • Police

  • Transport Department

Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said all arrangements should be completed in advance in line with the Chief Minister’s instructions. Emergency control rooms will remain operational 24/7, and disaster response teams are on high alert.

Authorities have issued a special advisory for visitors heading to Murree, where snowfall is expected.

Travelers are advised to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel

  • Drive slowly and avoid sudden braking

  • Use fog lights during low visibility

  • Follow official instructions

Local administration and relevant departments in Murree are already on alert due to expected snowfall.
